Digital Innovation Lab: International Master's Students at HSBA

For one week, students from all over the world explored digital innovations, gained practical experience and benefited from intercultural exchange.

Every year, we invite Master's students from our international partner universities to HSBA to take part in the Digital Innovation Lab module, where they can explore the topics of intrapreneurship, data business and programming, gain experience and get to know Hamburg and the HSBA. For one week, our guests study together with Master's students from HSBA and learn about current technological tools and methods while working on real-world business issues. At the same time, they benefit from the exchange with their international fellow students, get to know diverse cultures and Hamburg-based companies.

"The Digital Innovation Lab enables a concentrated examination of the opportunities and challenges of digital innovation and promotes the exchange between students from very different professional and cultural backgrounds. This is particularly valuable for all course participants,’ said Prof. Dr. Michael Höbig, head of the MSc Digital Transformation & Sustainability programme and head of the Intrapreneur profile. “In the Intrapreneur focus, students develop solutions to real-world problems in just one week, and it's great to see how quickly they are able to go from idea to startup pitch using design thinking or the lean startup method.”

The Digital Innovation Lab is a module in the Master's programme in Digital Transformation and Sustainability and takes place every year at the beginning of March. The compact module is a particularly attractive format for Master's students who want to study abroad while also working.

This year, students from our partner universities in Finland (Metropolia University of Applied Sciences), Italy (Universita di Pisa) and, for the first time, from our new cooperation partner, the University of Belgrade in Serbia, were also taking part. Students Ana and Bogdana from the Faculty of Organizational Scineces from the University of Belgrade shared their experiences and impressions with us in a short interview. Thank you so much for your time and effort!
