Frequently Asked Questions about our Executive Education
General Questions
A certificate course takes at least four days and ends with an examination. In order to receive the certificate, the examination needs to be passed. Once you have successfully completed the course, the certificate confirms your intensive study of a specific topic and your professional expertise in this area.
A Masterclass is part of a Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS). With a Masterclass, participants earn 5 ECTS which can be credited towards the corresponding CAS. Each Masterclass belongs to a specific CAS, which is indicated on the website of the respective Masterclass.
The workload for a masterclass is approximately 125 hours.
The Masterclasses are usually part of a Master's degree programme. If you later decide to complete the entire Master's programme, we will credit the ECTS of the modules you have already passed towards your degree.
A Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) is a further education certificate that has been specially developed for professionals who wish to deepen their knowledge and skills in a specific specialist area. It is aimed at people who have already completed their vocational training or degrees and would like to further their professional development. A CAS consists of two Masterclasses. To obtain the CAS, both Masterclasses must be attended and the respective examinations passed.
The programmes have a modular structure and comprise 10 ECTS (5 ECTS per Masterclass), which corresponds to a workload of around 250 hours.
In most cases, the lectures can be completed on a part-time basis. You can find further information on the teaching times on the page of the respective Masterclasses.
If you later decide to complete the entire degree programme, it is possible to attend one or both Masterclasses of the degree programme and specialisation you are interested in and have the ECTS credited to the corresponding degree programme afterwards.
That depends on the CAS. Please contact us at executive.education(at)hsba.de and let us know which CAS you are interested in.
The German Qualifications Framework ("Deutscher Qualifikationsrahmen") is an instrument for categorising qualifications in the German education system. It comprises eight levels that correspond to the competences that can be acquired in various educational and professional fields. It ensures transparency and comparability of different qualifications. A Bachelor's degree is assigned to level 6 and a Master's degree to level 7.
Each federal state provides funding for further education programmes. Please check whether the respective funding applies to your chosen further education programme and your personal situation.
If there are scholarships available for your chosen continuing education programme, we have listed them on the page of the course and also state the last possible application date and the requirements that must be met.
Members of the HSBA Alumni Association receive a 10% discount on all continuing education programmes. Please let us know when booking that you are a member of the Alumni Association to ensure the discount is applied.
If you are unable to attend the course or individual modules as planned, you can nominate a substitute participant free of charge, provided they fulfil the admission requirements.
In individual cases, you can arrange with HSBA and the respective lecturers to make up for your participation at a later run. There are no additional fees for this. We cannot guarantee that the course will be offered again, the risk lies solely with the participant.
