Course Content

Environment, Social & Governance (ESG), a formalised approach to sustainability, has become a game changer for companies. Alongside digitalisation, the implementation of sustainability in business is the dominant topic - from strategic planning to reporting in the annual financial statements.

The certificate course provides you with the necessary tools to manage the topic of ESG optimally and individually within the company and offers you the best opportunities to achieve your professional goals. You will expand your business and legal knowledge in the field of corporate sustainability while working. The content of the course ranges from a discussion of EU taxonomies to practical applications of strategic stakeholder management, the recording and assessment of sustainability KPIs and the establishment of ESG advisory boards. Lectures, case studies, exercises and interactive methods prepare you optimally for the application of the course content in business practice.

  • Legally compliant implementation of ESG obligations: You will be able to identify key ESG-related legal obligations, translate them into processes and reports, and prepare for dealing with climate litigation and non-financial reporting.

  • Management of social risks in supply chains: You can identify social ESG issues, particularly in supply chains and human rights contexts, and embed appropriate risk and prevention measures in the company.

  • Change management: You understand the mission, phases and roles in the sustainable change process, can deal with resistance and apply leadership concepts to effectively implement sustainability changes in the company.

  • Green finance & sustainable corporate financing: You are able to assess financing decisions in the context of green finance and sustainability goals and integrate them into the company's financial strategy.

  • Strategic environmental and social management: You can embed environmental and social management as part of the corporate strategy, assess impacts on key functional areas and use tools such as carbon footprinting and annual report analysis.

The course is part-time, virtual and practice-oriented. Register now - we look forward to welcoming you virtually to the “Certified ESG Officer” course!
