The doctoral retreat takes place at Elsa Brändström Haus in Hamburg. The historic villa is situated in a beautiful surrounding overlooking the Elbe River, away from everyday academic and professional routines – an ideal environment for concentration and productive exchange.

General Editor of the Journal of Management Studies, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam
Prof. Dr. Christopher Wickert is Research Director of the Department of Management & Organization at VU Amsterdam. The focus of his research is on corporate social responsibility and corporate sustainability. His work is regularly published in international top-journals.

Who can participate?
The Doctoral Retreat addresses:
- Doctoral students at HSBA
- External doctoral students in business studies
We have space for a limited number of external doctoral students. Please submit a short motivation letter (max. one page) by May 26th, 2025 to sabine.lebedinski(at)hsba.de. Your motivation letter should include the following:
- outlining your motivation for participation in the retreat
- Dissertation topic
- Year of dissertation
- Name and institution of supervisor
The fee for external doctoral students is €170 (including catering).
