The Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) Maritime Strategy & Innovation Officer consists of the masterclasses Sustainable Shipping & Maritime Economics and Port & Supply Chain Economics. It prepares you to manage the economic and environmental challenges of the modern maritime industry and actively contribute to the sustainable development of the sector.
In the masterclass Sustainable Shipping & Maritime Economics, you gain a well-founded overview of maritime economic and financial models as well as the newest digital, financial and operational developments in modern shipping. A particular focus is placed on decarbonisation and the use of alternative fuels – Topics that will shape the future of the sector. You will learn to analyse the regulatory environment in relation to sustainability and to understand the business implications for shipping companies. You will also be equipped with quantitative and qualitative tools to master the challenges of today's shipping world.
The Masterclass Port & Supply Chain Economics provides a comprehensive understanding of the economic principles and dynamics underlying the operation of ports and maritime supply chains. You will explore market concepts relevant to the maritime sector and analyse economic aspects of Port infrastructure, operations and management. The international and national regulations governing the maritime industry, environmental and sustainability aspects and the role of ports and shipping in global trade are also part of the agenda. Both masterclasses are modules from the Master's programme MSc Innovation Management (with a focus on Shipping). They are designed for part-time study.
Admission Requirements
All participants must fulfil the admission requirements for our Master's programme MSc Innovation Management.
To obtain the CAS Maritime Strategy & Innovation Officer (HSBA), you must attend both masterclasses and pass both exams.
If you later decide to complete the entire Innovation Management programme (with the specialisation in ‘Shipping’), the modules can be counted towards your degree.

Both masterclasses are modules from the Master Innovation Management (with a focus on shipping). They can be completed on a part-time basis.
As you will be attending the module together with our Master Innovation Management students, this course is guaranteed to take place from the first person.
