An excellent academic reputation, the quality of the teaching, teamwork in small groups, applied study programme structures and the close supervision provided all helped MCI to be selected as Austria’s best university in the Universum Ranking and as Top University 2014. Since 2015, MCI also has a double FIBAA premium accreditation, which represents excellent quality in research, teaching, management and services. The percentage of international students stands at 42%, and they come from 49 different countries. Of the almost 200 partner universities, a good 270 students spent a semester at MCI in the 2014/2015 academic year.
City
With 35,000 students , Innsbruck is one of the most popular university cities in the German-speaking world. Whether in summer or in winter, Innsbruck is a real paradise for sports enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. The city is situated in the middle of the Tyrolean Mountains and has the highest percentage of bicycle traffic in Austria. People from Innsbruck speak a southern Bavarian dialect that is closer to High German and thus relatively easy to understand. The city has a lot to offer culturally, with numerous theatres, museums, cultural organisations, music events and listed buildings. Several sporting events such as the ‘Vierschanzentournee’ (Four Hills Tournament or German-Austrian Ski Jumping Week) and the Air & Style Contest, one of Europe’s largest freestyle snowboard festivals, take place in Innsbruck, and the games for the 2005 Ice Hockey World Championship, the 2008 European Football Championship and the Winter Olympics (1964 and 1976) were held there.
