Study Profile MSc Real Estate & Leadership

The Master of Science programme Real Estate & Leadership offers a holistic, interdisciplinary and industry-specific study programme with extensive scientific content. The consecutive programme is designed for ambitious Bachelor's graduates from study courses such as engineering, architecture and business administration.

Interdisciplinarity means merging real estate planning, engineering and business aspects. The Master’s programme focuses on the real estate sector and combines all involved perspectives: the community, the investor, the user, and the producer. The course allows future generalists and managers to acquire the requisite knowledge and encourages them to think strategically and sustainably. As a result, the Master’s programme combines theoretical specialist knowledge and established management concepts with the continuing development of personal skills.

Study Fees 22,500 Euros (= 750 Euros per month) *. A reduction of tuition fees based on the support of the Real Estate & Leadership Foundation e.V. is possible. The exam fees as well as the lectures are already included.
Application Process Written application, telephone interview, Admission Day. Applications are accepted until the maximum number of students is reached. We recommend to apply early, since scholarships and JOB&MASTER-places are eventually allocated on a first-come-first-serve basis
Accreditation The study course was accredited by the FIBAA.

Study Structure

120 ECTS must be acquired over the course of the study programme. The credits are spread over 13 modules and the master’s thesis.

The study programme takes a generalist approach and covers technical, process-related, economical and social topics of the real estate sector.

Students have the opportunity to choose the specialisation A: Investor & User or the specialisation B: Producer & Community. This decision means that up to one-third of the study programme can be structured as a specialisation.

2. Telephone Interview To discuss the student’s motivation and all queries surrounding the course. 30 Minutes
3. Preparation Admission Day Written elaboration as a basis for discussion for Admission Day 2 Weeks
4. Admission Day Involves an in-depth assessment of the applicant’s personal and academic suitability. Applicants have the opportunity to get to know the professors, staff and potential fellow students and gain an impression of the university. 1 day; monthly; in Englisch
5. Admission    
6. JOB & MASTER Placement HSBA helps candidates find a suitable company. if applicable
7. Signing the Contract A place is reserved on the course for the applicant after he/she has signed and returned the contract.  
8. Enrolment Once these documents have been handed in and all admission conditions have been met (including payment of the registration fee), you will be formally enrolled.  

Financing of the Study Course

The course fees are 22,500 Euro for the overall programme. HSBA alumni and partner companies, JOB & MASTER candidates as well as applications that reach us before 31 May receive a 10% discount on the course fees.

The course fees include the exam fees but please be aware that the study trip is not included. Usually the Real Estate & Leadership Foundation e. V. or the employer pays a part of the course fees.

... with the Assistance from the Real Estate & Leadership Foundation e.V. (Full-time Option)

The financing scheme of the HSBA and the Real Estate and Leadership Foundation e.V. can provide full-time students of the programme with full or partial cover of the tuition fees. For further information, please refer to the sample calculation below.
The cover is available for admitted students who submitted a convincing application and are eligible after a selection process of HSBA. The reduction in tuition fees usually amounts to 60 per cent of the overall tuition and is awarded in conjunction with admission to the programme. More information can be found here (in German).

In order to apply for this programme, please add the following documents to your Master's application:

  • Letter of recommendation from the current or former employer as well as an academic reference.
  • Second letter of motivation to apply for the funding in which the applicant details why he/she is qualified for the funding and what he/she wants to achieve with respect to his/her social responsibility in the short-, mid- and long-term.

... with the Assistance from the Employer (Part-time Option)

The MSc Real Estate & Leadership is designed to train students for management tasks in companies and to lay the foundation for success. This is attractive to students and companies alike, which is why many employers support their employees both in financial terms and by granting additional free time for the master's programme.

... with the JOB & MASTER Programme (Part-time Option)

HSBA’s JOB & MASTER programme is a free placement service for applicants looking for a study place who wish to combine challenging academic and professional development. Many companies that work together with HSBA value the highly trained applicants from different specialist areas and the possibilities for further education provided by HSBA’s MBA programme and therefore take on the study fees and pay a salary.

Three Full Scholarships Available!

Currently, three 100% scholarships within the HSBA funding programme are still available for particularly eligible applicants on the full-time option. HSBA hereby particularly supports applicants with the following backgrounds:

  • Expatriates and international professionals
  • Women in Technology: (future) female leaders
  • Engineers

All candidates should add a separate motivation letter to their application, in which their special suitability for the scholarship is explained.

Other Scholarships and Funding Programmes

As part of the HSBA study funding programme, a maximum funding of 50% of tuition fees is possible. Other funding programmes and scholarships remain unaffected.

The "Deutschlandstipendium" scholarships are awarded based on performance and amount to EUR 300 per month. 50% stem from public funding from the German government and 50% from the university's own private funding.
