The MSc Global Management and Governance offers an applied business administration study programme with extensive scientific contents. The aim of the course is to allow future specialists and managers to acquire the requisite knowledge and encourage them to think strategically and sustainably. The consecutive programme is designed for ambitious Bachelor's graduates.

Study Fees 22.500 Euro (=750 Euro per month)*. The major part of the study fees are generally covered by the employer. They include examination fees.
Application Process Written application, telephone interview, Admission Day. Applications are accepted until the maximum number of students is reached. We recommend to apply early, since grants and JOB&MASTER-places are eventually allocated on a first-come-first-serve basis
Accreditation The study course was awarded the Premium Accreditation of the FIBAA in 2015 and received very good ratings especially in the areas of the overall study situation, feasibility of study courses and international orientation in the CHE ranking 2014 of the ZEIT.

Study Structure

120 ECTS must be acquired over the course of the study programme. The credits are spread over twelve modules and the Master’s thesis. The study programme takes a generalist approach and covers a broad range of business administration theory as well as relevant economic and legal topics. The overlapping topics of internationality, business ethics and governance are incorporated in the modules and analysed in the respective context.

The first nine modules as well as module 12 are core modules. In modules 10 and 11, students can choose between the specialisations Marketing, Human Resources, Finance or Entrepreneurship. The degree concludes with a six-month master’s thesis, which can relate to any area of the programme.

Specialisations of the Study Course

Students have the possibility to specialise in the following specialisations:

Marketing: This specialisation deals in depth with three core aspects of marketing. In all three parts, scientific models are introduced that serve to quantify interrelations in marketing.

Human Resources: The specialisation Human Resources offers a well-founded overview of central tasks of talent management as well as the goals and the focus of human resource management in a successful company. Selected current topics that are of particular importance due to demographic changes and the increasing digitalisation are deepened in special sessions.

Finance: The Finance specialisation module carries on from the Financial Management module. The central learning objective is the ability to value projects, shares and entire companies.

Entrepreneurship: This specialisation deals with all of the different aspects of entrepreneurship, starting with company start-ups and the management of small and medium-sized enterprises right through to innovation management and the restructuring of existing and development of new business divisions in companies and the founding of new companies, also within corporate groups.

Application Process

On the MSc Global Management & Governance the following admission requirements apply:

  • A completed third-level degree in economics or business covering 180 ECTS credits. The third-level degree should have been completed with a minimum German grade “good” (2.5) or equivalent.
  • Ability to complete a course of studies in English (minimum level: B2 of the European Framework of Reference)
  • Letter of recommendation from a current or former employer or an academic reference.
  • Successfully completed HSBA selection process (written application, telephone interview, admission day).

Step 2: Telephone Interview In this first interview you should explain your motivation, but of course you can also ask questions about the programme. The telephone interview lasts about 30 minutes.  
Step 3: Admission Day We get to know you better by setting different tasks throughout the day. This day also gives you the opportunity to visit our campus and meet professors.  
Step 4: Admission After a successful Admission Day we welcome you to HSBA officially. If applicable, you will be accepted into the JOB & MASTER programme at this time and will of course receive your contract and all other information relevant to the programme.

HSBA’s JOB & MASTER programme is a free placement service for applicants looking for a study place who wish to combine challenging academic and professional development.

In exceptional cases, students receive a reduction of the study fees as part of the HSBA/VEEK scholarship programme. This scholarship programme offers a reduction of the study fees by 25 or 50%.

Other Scholarships and Funding Programmes

As part of the HSBA study funding programme, a maximum funding of 50% of tuition fees is possible. Other funding programmes and scholarships remain unaffected.

The "Deutschlandstipendium" scholarships are awarded based on performance and amount to EUR 300 per month. 50% stem from public funding from the German government and 50% from the university's own private funding.
