What is the Junior Summer School?

The Summer Academy is a one-week intensive pre-college programme for pupils who want to experience business first-hand and get to know dual study at HSBA.

  • Practical insights into key business topics (e.g. business, leadership, finance, marketing, AI)
  • Interactive workshops with real-world examples
  • Meet dual students and take part in company visits

Who can take part in the Junior Summer School?

Pupils who want to kick-start their career and are interested in business and hands-on learning.

  • Age: 15–19
  • Interest in business-related topics
  • Open to new experiences and networking

➡️ No prior knowledge needed – curiosity is what matters.

When does the Junior Summer School start and how long does it last?

The programme takes place during the summer holidays. You’ll find the current dates on our website.

  • Monday to Friday on the HSBA campus
  • 40 teaching hours

What topics are covered in the Junior Summer School?

You’ll get a broad overview of business topics plus current trends. Examples include:

  • Business & Management
  • HR & Leadership (in English)
  • Marketing & Sales
  • Financial Markets, Project Management
  • Digitalisation & AI, Sustainability, Strategy & Innovation (in English)

What language is the Junior Summer School taught in?

Mostly in German – with two modules in English so you can try it out.

  • HR & Leadership: English

  • Goal: practise your English skills in a supportive setting

Are there company visits and networking opportunities?

Yes. You’ll meet HSBA students and visit companies in Hamburg.

How much does the Junior Summer School cost – and are scholarships available?

Participation fee: €490
You can apply for a scholarship with a short motivation letter (200 words). Scholarships are available.

Usually around two weeks before the programme starts.

What’s the difference between the Junior Summer School and the Junior Academy?

Both formats are aimed at pupils preparing for dual study or their next career step. They differ in duration, format, and schedule.

  • Junior Summer School: 1 week / 40 hours, intensive, during the summer holidays
    ➡️ Ideal if you want to experience a lot in a short time and learn more about business studies.
     
  • Junior Academy: compact Saturday courses over several months
    ➡️ Perfect if you’d like to explore business over a longer period and dive deeper into management topics.
