About Yeditepe University

Yeditepe University is one of Turkey’s largest private universities, with c. 20000 students and more than 400 Erasmus and exchange partnerships. It enjoys a strong international reputation and offers a wide range of English-taught programmes. For HSBA students, it is an excellent choice for a practical and intercultural semester abroad.

The university provides a well-organised incoming program that supports exchange students throughout their stay – from nomination by their home university and orientation to course selection and on-campus housing options.

Istanbul itself is a fascinating city that bridges Europe and Asia. It combines a historic old town with modern architecture, a vibrant cultural scene, and a young, dynamic population. Here, you can immerse yourself in both Turkish daily life and an international student community. A semester at Yeditepe University means studying internationally, growing culturally, and living in one of the most exciting cities in the world.

Accommodation: Finding accommodation in Istanbul required some research. I considered both university dormitories and private housing options. University dorms were affordable but had limited availability, so I opted for a shared apartment in Kadiköy, which provided more independence and flexibility. To be honest I would not recommend to stay in the campus dormitories as nearly all Erasmus students live in more busy areas such as Besiktas & Kadiköy.
Transportation: Public transportation was affordable with the Istanbulkart. The city had excellent infrastructure and mobile SIM cards were easy to obtain from providers like Turkcell or Vodafone.
Activities and more: Yeditepe University had an active student life with various clubs and events. The Erasmus Student Network (ESN) organized excursions and the city itself offered endless cultural and social activities. However, you can also join ESN activities from different universities and meet new friends. Keep in mind that Istanbul has a lot to offer.
