Die National Taipei University (NTPU) gehört zu den führenden Hochschulen Taiwans und verbindet akademische Exzellenz mit einer starken internationalen Ausrichtung. Colin LantschAccommodation: I didn´t have to worry much about finding accommodation because it was assured from the beginning that I could stay in the dormitories at NTPU. The process was straightforward, and everything worked out as planned. I was assigned to a four-person dorm, which was very affordable. For the four months of my stay, I paid a total of 600€, making it a convenient and budget-friendly option.
Transportation: There is no direct MRT connection to the university, but a well-frequented bus line takes you to the nearest MRT station. From there, it´s about 30 minutes to Taipei main station, right in the city center. For anyone planning to use public transport often, I recommend getting a monthly pass for around 30€, as individual fares can add up quickly at 1-2€ per trip.
Food: The cost of food in Taiwan varies widely. On some days I managed to have three good meals for just 10€, while on other days I treated myself for fancy dining in Taipei for around 30€.
Activities and more: Socially I spent most of my time with other international students. We quickly formed a close group, as we were all in the same situation. The International Office occasionally organized activities which I enjoyed participating in. For example, we visited a local tea plantation where we picked, processed, and packed our own tea to take home. The day also included a tour of a nearby temple, which was a great cultural experience. Additionally, local students sometimes hosted events to exchange cultural insights, and these opportunities were both fun and enriching.
