Sustainability in Business

We cordially invite you to an HSBA Business Lounge, where the students of the Master's program "Digital Transformation & Sustainability" will present their research findings on the topics of sustainability reporting, sustainability in the application process, and carbon footprint.
In today's world, sustainability is becoming increasingly important for every individual and every company. Therefore, the students have dedicated themselves to these questions:

  • To what extent do companies communicate sustainability elements in online job advertisements for potential job seekers of Generation Z?
  • What is the relevance of the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) in the sustainability reports of the DAX 40 companies?
  • What resource-wasting usage behavior exists regarding cloud-based storage usage in business practices, and what obstacles do employees have in changing this behavior?
  • How significant is the discrepancy between the current GHG (Greenhouse Gas) emissions reporting of the DAX 40 companies and the final draft of the European Sustainability Reporting Standards? To what extent does the ESRS address the existing issues with comparability of GHG emissions reporting?

After the presentations on the results of each project, we warmly invite you to participate in the discussions and share your perspectives. We are looking forward to an evening with you, filled with engaging conversations and exciting insights!

Digital Collaboration – A Discussion on Communication and Collaboration in the Digital Space

21 June 2022, 6:00 pm

On behalf of our students and the academic heads of the Digital Transformation & Sustainabilty study programme, we would like to invite you today to a panel discussion as part of a project.

Our everyday lives have changed completely within the last few years. Such change leaves its mark. Our private and professional activities have been shifted into the digital space, fundamentally changing the way we communicate and collaborate. New tools and systems have been introduced, work locations have changed, and creativity is being rethought. In order for these changes to be considered in business alignment, a customer centricity is of immense importance. But what are the needs of customers today? To what extent do they want to work together again live and in color on site? Over the past year, the moderators have analyzed these and many other questions from the perspective of both consultants and customers. They now want to discuss their findings with experienced speakers from the industry.

Speakers:

  • Elly Oldenbourg, Manager & Sidepreneur, Google
  • Lena Knoll, Manager Digital Transformation, 55BirchStreet
  • Nicole Wronski, Board Member, Blackboat
  • Christopher Nadorf, Manager, PWC

Current disruptions in global supply chains and the repercussions for the Port of Hamburg

24 May 2022, 5:30 pm

Global supply chains are facing major challenges: As a result of the lockdown in China, more than 300 ships are waiting for clearance outside the port of Shanghai - waiting times of more than a week are the consequence. The consequences of this will only reach the German ports with some delay. Already today, more than 10 large container ships are anchored in the German Bight. The terminals in the Port of Hamburg are already working to the limit and are themselves struggling with the effects of the pandemic and the Russia Ukraine War. The next few weeks will show how the emerging wave of containers can be handled.

Discussing the current disruptions to global supply chains and the repercussions for the Port of Hamburg:

  • Prof. Dr. Götz Wiese, Port Policy Spokesman of the CDU parliamentary group.
  • Lars Olaf Preuß, business editor WELT and WELT AM SONNTAG
  • Jens Hansen, Vorstand Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG
  • Prof. Dr. Jan Ninnemann, Professor of Logistics, HSBA Hamburg School of Business Administration

The event will be held in German.

Information for Bachelor students: As this event is part of the electives (General Studies), you will receive 0.08 credits for your degree.
