HSBA Hamburg School of Business Administration is the university of the Hamburg business community. Founded by Hamburg Chamber of Commerce in 2004, it now cooperates with more than 300 companies. As a state-recognised third-level institution, it offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business as dual and part-time courses for about 1,000 students. Our programmes are very ambitious and designed for "hard work-hard play" students.
Currently HSBA has around 44 international partnerships covering universities from Europe, Asia and America.
HSBA only offers dual bachelor's and part-time master's programmes. The dual principle involves students learning at two locations, namely at the university and at the partner company. Although, for exchange students the dual principle does not apply but it is important for you to understand the structure as it influences the structure of your stay at HSBA.
HSBA offers these following Bachelor’s programmes:
Students are welcome to choose and mix courses from all study programmes and years – depending on the prerequisites.
Please be aware that when mixing programmes and years, courses may overlap. Schedules will be available approximately two weeks before arrival. Here you can find the module descriptions.
Master’s students interested in an exchange at HSBA: Please be aware that HSBA only offers part-time Master’s programmes and no classic exchange semester structure. Please contact HSBA’s International Office for more details.
Due to the dual study structure the academic year is divided into four terms of approx. three months each. Exams take place during the last week of each term. Students may come on exchange for one or two terms. Three terms may be arranged in exceptional cases by prior agreement.
Undergraduate exchange terms for 2020/21:
Mandatory Induction Days will take place at the beginning of each term.
IMPORTANT: We recommend students to stay for two terms (equals a classic semester) to manage the workload for 30 ECTS.

A new country, a new city and a new university might cause confusion. No reason to despair! HSBA’s Buddies will help you to have a smooth start. This ranges from study to life and culture, everything from A to Z. They might pick you up at the airport, show you the nearest supermarket to your apartment, help to register as a Hamburg citizen or take you to the next party and best bar in Hamburg. How much time you spend with your buddy is, in the end, up to you and your buddy.
Exchange students will automatically be matched with a buddy – so you do not need to register! Your buddy will get in contact with you shortly before your exchange starts.
If you are a degree seeking student interested in the Buddy Programme just write us an email and we’ll try to find you a buddy who matches. Register with our HSBA International Committee best 3 months prior to your arrival.
