Study Profile

The M.Sc. in Finance is a consecutive part-time programme for ambitious graduates, who are eager to prepare themselves for demanding professional roles in finance. This program conveys comprehensive competences which are essential both to financial intermediaries in particular as well as the wider business world in general. In order to equip financial experts of tomorrow with the skills necessary to face such challenges, the M.Sc. in Finance has been designed with both methodology and application in mind. Besides a deepened knowledge of financial instruments and strategies, important emphasis lies therefore on coding, project management, presentation techniques and negotiation skills. Graduates of this program will be expertly prepared for the sector and optimally equipped to cover important functional interfaces, such as with IT. All of the modules take place in an international environment and are taught entirely in English.

Less information

With JOB & MASTER, students get substantial practical experience besides their part-time study programme. Students and companies negotiate the content of the employment agreement (scope, salary, percentage of course fees to be paid by the employer), with the partner company generally paying for the course fees and the salary covering the student's living expenses. Reduced course fees for JOB & MASTER students are EUR 675 per month.

The bright and friendly atmosphere and modern technical equipment at the City Campus and the Commerzbibliothek library give students the best possible conditions for learning.

At HSBA students find optimal learning conditions with small study groups. Our facilities are state-of-the-art (rooms, literature, databases) and our campus is welcoming. During their studies, students receive academic support from teaching staff and support in all other issues from management. Low dropout rates and high levels of satisfaction of students are the result of this concept.

Hamburg, the waterfront city, is one of the world’s safest big cities and an extremely attractive place to live, work and study. The mix of economic potential and a good quality of life makes Hamburg one of Europe’s most dynamic business regions. With the Inner Alster lake in the centre of the city, countless parks and green spaces, its proximity to two oceans, a large range of diverse leisure activities and excellent shopping, Hamburg is one of the top ten city destinations in Europe and a popular place to live and study. The high quality of life is also due to the fact that Hamburg is one of the safest cities in the world.

A special highlight of the study course is the project module where one week is spent abroad and a current case study of a company is worked on.
