This summer, HSBA will host its Summer School on Maritime & Logistics for the very first time from 10 July until 15 July 2017.

Would you like to acquaint yourself with the field of maritime and logistics or are you thinking of working in the maritime or logistics sector but do not yet have an educational or professional background in this field? Then this Summer School is made for you!

This course will provide you with first insights into maritime and logistics topics and give you a broad overview of the sector and current topics. Topics will include, amongst others:

  • Introduction into the German Maritime Cluster
  • Market Dynamics: Opportunities and Threats
  • Ship Finance in German
  • Maritime Policy: German, EU and beyond
  • Innovation and Digitalisation in Shipping
  • Introduction to Hamburg as a Logistics Hub
  • Globalisation and Supply Chains

In addition, we will offer company visits to our partner companies operating in the maritime and logistics sector. Aside from visiting lectures, you will work on a project assignment or case study which deals with a current topic which companies in the field are currently dealing with. The project work will start on the first day and will be presented on the last day of the course.

HSBA boasts a Maritime Business School with faculty members specialised in maritime and logistics topics. With our MBA in Shipping and Bachelor's in Maritime Management and Logistics Management, we have the necessary academic expertise available to ensure that you obtain an adequate training in the field.

Our lecturers have both an academic background in the maritime field and are professionally active. This means that they integrate a great deal of practical cases and examples into course material.

As an internationally oriented port city, and the home of many international companies, Hamburg is a great place to take part in a Summer School on Maritime and Logistics!

  • Mike Fischer, MSc, MBA: HSBA Lecturer in International Business Administration / Trade (BSc Business Administration), and Management & Finance (MBA Shipping)

Accommodation In general you will have to make your own accommodation arrangements. Should you incur any difficulties, please contact us. As a low-cost accomodation we can recommend the Superbude Hostel or the Generator Hostel. Overall you should calculate 30 Euro/night for a hostel and approximately 80 Euro/night for a hotel room.
