Dual Bachelor's programme in business administration with a special focus on the media industry
The dual programme Media Management & Communication offers practically oriented Business Administration studies with special orientation towards the media industry, combined with simultaneous in-company training. It provides not only the fundamentals of business administration, but also selected contents from the specific viewpoint of the media industry, focusing where appropriate on the individual media and specific corporate strategies in the various media sectors. The cooperation partners are mostly media companies and advertising agencies.
At BAT I support the department Corporate Affairs for example with organising company events or writing press releases. This teaches me how to represent the values and principles of the company to employees an the public.
I started to work in the internal audit department and during the audits learned more about the many different national and international subsidiaries and areas of the Otto Group. I find the way that HSBA and Otto support the further development of their students outstanding.
After my dual study course in Media Management I continued to work as an Account Manager for the advertising agency deepblue networks and ensure that our clients are always well advised.

The dual programme integrates phases of theory at the university (on average 32 weeks a year) and practical phases of training in their training company (on average 20 weeks a year).
Students acquire practical business administration know-how, specialising in the media industries with sector-specific modules. Particular attention is given to method skills. The foundations of business administration knowledge are laid in the first year, together with introductory modules on the media industries, method modules, languages and law. As the programme progresses, there is a continuous increase in the proportion of media specific modules. The third year offers options for specialisation.
About 30% of HSBA's Bachelor students spend time abroad during their studies (mostly short-stay at Summer Schools or as an exchange student with one of our partner universities). In the third year of studies of the dual programmes, students can go on an international study trip. Anyone interested in taking a dual Bachelor programme should normally start looking for a training company at least one year before they intend to start their studies. The application to the company should include all the usual documents, such as school and examination qualifications and CV. The company then sends the study contract together with the necessary documents to HSBA, which checks whether the criteria for admission are fulfilled, and if so accepts the applicant.
