The Claussen-Simon Foundation was set up by the then chairman of the supervisory board and CEO of Beiersdorf AG, Georg W. Claussen, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the company. The Foundation started its work in 1982.
Contributions to fund the Foundation were made by members of the founder’s family (in particular Ebba Simon) and by Beiersdorf AG. The purpose of the Foundation is to promote science, research, education as well as art and culture. There is a special focus on promoting science and up-and-coming scientists in the Hamburg region.
