Dr. Jürgen Meyer Foundation

Dr. Heinz Jürgen Meyer fulfilled his professional dream in 1998 by purchasing Ernst Marks GmbH & Co. KG. After several successful years as a manager in a firm, he purchased a company in which he could implement his own entrepreneurial ideas independently.

The company with its headquarters in Mülheim/Ruhr in Germany is the inventor and world market leader for calibrated underpacking sheets under the “marks-3zet” brand. It supplies self-adhesive underpacking foils using a system of colour coding, and was the first dealer in Europe to get involved in waterless offset printing technology. However, a serious illness meant that Dr. Heinz Jürgen Meyer only had a few short years in which to put his new ideas into action. Without children, and aware of his failing health, he therefore decided as early as 2004 that his corporate group should be contributed to a foundation, the Dr. Jürgen Meyer Foundation, in the event of his death. Dr. Heinz Jürgen Meyer died on 23 February 2007 after a long and serious illness.

One focus area of the foundation is scientific research and teaching in the field of ethics in the world of business, taking special account of middle management, by means of:

  • Endowed Chairs and grants for institutions for third level academic projects
  • Awarding scholarships for master’s degrees, doctoral degrees and post-doctoral research
  • Providing support for socially relevant projects involving basic and further training
  • Implementing the management concepts in day-to-day business that correspond to the ethos of the foundation.
