There is always something happening at HSBA...

With more than 200 invited guests from science, economy and politics the Audimax in the SQUARE HSBA Innovation Hub was filled to the last seat. In her inaugural speech, Sjurts gave a first outlook on how she would like to further use and expand the potential of the HSBA as a university for the digital future.
"As Business School in Hamburg, the HSBA already is very well positioned for the digital future. I would like to further consolidate and expand the excellent reputation of the university in the coming years and make the HSBA a place that inspires - in teaching and research," explained Insa Sjurts in her speech. This includes attractive courses of study with contemporary didactics as well as the necessary freedom for first-class and effective research. Sjurts further places an emphasis on the expansion of the university as a competence partner of the economy, which researches and collaborates with companies on the development of new business models for products and services and is in close contact with other universities in the region. Together, they will make an effective contribution to further enhancing the attractiveness of Hamburg as a business and education location.
Following welcoming speeches by Dr. Eva Gümbel, State Councillor of the Authority for Science, Re-search and Equality, Dr. Hariolf Wenzler, Chairman of the HSBA Board of Governors, and Andreas Brand, Lord Mayor of the City of Friedrichshafen, Prof. Dr. Michael Otto, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Otto Group, in his speech paid tribute to the development of the HSBA. As former Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce, he played a major role in the founding of the university and his company was one of the first partner companies of the HSBA. The outgoing founding president Prof. Dr. Hans-Jörg Schmidt-Trenz thanked all employees and professors, the economy as well as politics for their support and the trust they had placed in him and handed over his office with the best wishes to his successor.
