Sustainable Real Estate Management & Leadership - Survival of the Fittest

Where will the Real Estate Industry be in ten years and what do we need to change now, to keep growing successfully?

In her inaugural lecture Professor Kati Herzog closely examined Building and Property Management as well as Corporate Governance in the context of Sustainability and Digitalisation.

We are at the intersection of major technological, economic and social changes that affect our lives and work. The Building and Real Estate Industry is also affected and has to face up to the challenges: How can we digitally record and utilise real estate-specific data? According to which criteria should teams be set-up? How can a successful, new management model look like?

Under the title "Survival of the Fittest", Kati Herzog discussed the factors and measures that will keep Real Estate Management and Corporate Governance succcessful today and in ten years: "The Building and Real Estate Industry is extremely diverse", says Herzog. "It brings together so many players, know-how carriers and experts from different disciplines and therefore has the best prerequisites to be at the forefront, to steer and to manage sustainably. But it needs to change faster. "Survival of the Fittest" to me means the willingness to go new ways, to seize opportunities and not to miss them."

Together with the Real Estate and Leadership Foundation e. V. the Master's programme "MSc Real Estate & Leadership" was successfully launched in the winter semester 2017/18.
