Online retailers are gaining above all because of their wide variety of products, availability around the clock and free deliveries. Stationary based retailers have realised that they need to adapt to changing customer needs. Today's consumer no longer distinguishes between online and offline. He naturally uses all available shopping channels. For him, omni-channel shopping is becoming increasingly important. The Karstadt department store chain recognised this in 2017 and set itself the goal of revolutionising stationary retailing with innovative technical solutions. The result is the Experience Store, which was realised on an area of 200 square meters in the Karstadt branch of Düsseldorf. Here, the latest digital touchpoints are tested in the current customer operation with real goods.
