E-Commerce, mobile devices and data-driven solutions are just three examples. Alexander Birken will report on how Otto Group as one of the world’s biggest online retailers with many brands and 50.000 employees is adapting strategically and culturally to this new age of commerce in order to carry on setting the benchmark in the future.Alexander Birken, born in Hamburg in 1964, started his career at Otto Group in 1991 in the controlling department, following his studies at Wirtschaftsakademie Hamburg. After different positions within the Otto Group, including Investment Controlling of Otto Group for Asia and America from 1999 to 2002; Chief Operating Officer of Spiegel Group in Chicago, USA, from 2002 to 2004 and, since 2005, Member of the Otto Group Executive Board with responsibility for the strategic development of several companies, he took over the chairmanship of the Otto Group on 1 January 2017.
