Internationalisation as strategic goal of HSBA

As young and dynamic university, internationality is an integral part of our strategic direction. HSBA therefore puts a high focus on an international orientation in teaching and research activites. We offer a broad range of English study programmes or modules to our students and encourage our students to study abroad.

Internationalisation does not just take place abroad, but also right here at HSBA: Discover the world from home!

Teaching

All bachelor and master programmes have internationally oriented study contents. The bachelor programmes Business Administration (English group), Logistics Management, Maritime Management and all master's programmes are taught in English. All other programmes have a share of at least 25%. Excursions abroad are an integral part of the courses.

In addition, the HSBA engages many lecturers with an international background, both from partner universities and from business practice.

Research

International research projects are one of the main pillars in the internationalisation strategy of the HSBA Hamburg School of Business Administration.

The city of Hamburg is a much sought after destination not only for students. Also at the research level, numerous projects with international partners are carried out on topics such as port and logistics. Our faculty members are engaged in various research projects in collaboration with colleagues and institutions from all over the world. The HSBA Foundation was founded in 2007 and aims to promote applied research projects.

International Summer Schools

HSBA regularly organizes summer schools for international guests. In the summer of 2014, HSBA offered for the first time a Business Ethics summer school for students from all over the world, which has been held annually since then.

In addition, HSBA aligns summer schools in the field of logistics and digitization, always welcoming international experts in Hamburg.

International Lounges

In addition to international events at HSBA, e.g. as part of the International Week, regular presentations and panel discussions take place with international representatives in the Chamber of Commerce. Once a year, the Chamber of Commerce organises "India Week"; it also hosts the "Hamburg Summit - China meets Europe" and organises lectures on topical issues such as "Seltene Erden in der Mongolei (rare earth in Mongolia)" or the German-Arab networking meet-up several times a year. You can find more information here.
If you wish to learn of these events by email, we will be happy to add your address to our mailing list.
