International Partner Cooperating with HSBA

HSBA as partner university

HSBA is a young and dynamic university that is always open to new partnerships. We have several partnerships in Europe and worldwide. Cooperating with HSBA can comprise student, teaching and staff mobility as well as joint research projects.

HSBA at a glance

  • Teaching and research: Ideal linking of theory and practice. HSBA professors are personally connected to the business world and some even have their own company. Their daily work combines research projects involving real and current business issues with specific consulting assignments for numerous local and international companies. In addition, they have their own management responsibilities within the university. This array of activities merges in and enriches their teaching.
  • Integrated practice within the university: Case studies, lectures by well-known personalities from the business world and a high learning curve.
  • Employability: Our students benefit from a mix of 20 weeks per year of studies at HSBA and 32 weeks of in-company training in one of our 250 cooperating companies.
  • Proximity to the city's business world
  • Access to major companies (OTTO group, Montblanc, Deutsche Bank, Hapag Lloyd, ...) and potential career prospects for students
  • CSR is becoming increasingly important globally - HSBA study programmes have their roots in the principle of honourable leadership in business ("the honourable merchant").
  • Last but not least, HSBA is a private university with small groups and very good support from teachers. This also enables direct contact to German and international master's students who also come from the working world (they work in companies alongside their studies) and thus fast integration and potential business contacts.

Student exchange

The programmes Business Administration, Business Informatics and Media Management are largely taught in English. In Business Administration (English version), Maritime Management and Logistics Management, lessons are held exclusively in English.

Our undergraduate students gain practical and theoretical knowledge during their studies, as they spend about 20 weeks per year in lectures and the remaining 32 weeks in one of our more than 240 cooperating companies, which include AON, British American Tobacco, Deutsche Bank, Hapag Lloyd, Lufthansa, Montblanc and many more.

Joint research activities

In addition to study programmes and executive education, the third pillar of HSBA's university activities is research. Research is hugely important for HSBA, with one of the university's guiding principles devoted to it:

  • Research at HSBA is applied.
  • Research at HSBA serves to promote Hamburg as a location.
  • Research at HSBA marries science with business.
  • Research findings are incorporated in the academic community.
  • Research findings are incorporated in teaching at HSBA.

The HSBA foundation was established in 2007 and aims to promote application-oriented research projects.
Our lecturers are engaged in various research projects in collaboration with colleagues and institutions from all over the world. Read more about HSBA's research profile and activities.
