"I am very much looking forward to the new challenge and the opportunity to play an even more active role in the strategic development of HSBA in the areas academic education, executive education and quality assurance in my position as vice president," explains Prof. Dr. Alkis Otto. "Sincere thanks to my predecessor and esteemed colleague Inga Schmidt-Ross for her great commitment and the outstanding work she has done in this area during her tenure as the first HSBA vice presidents.”
Prof. Dr. Inga Schmidt-Ross has been the first Vice President Academic Education, Executive Education and Quality Management since 2012 and is responsible for the academic design and anchoring of the topics at presidium level. After more than seven years, she has now decided to resign: "Due to urgent family obligations, I will no longer be able to exercise my office as vice president as I believe it would be necessary in order to meet all the requirements of the upcoming topics and projects. That is why I am relinquishing my office at the end of the year", explains Prof. Dr. Inga Schmidt-Ross. "It has always been a great pleasure for me to accompany the HSBA as vice president. I would like to thank all my colleagues, in particular all members of the university management and the University Council, and of course our president Prof. Dr. Hans-Jörg Schmidt-Trenz for their trust and the consistently good cooperation. Special thanks also go to Prof. Dr. Alkis Otto for his willingness to take over my office. I am convinced that he will fill this position with a great deal of commitment, his es-teemed eye for detail and high professional competence and that he will form a good team with the Vice President Research and International Affairs, Prof. Dr. Goetz Greve".
During her tenure, Prof. Dr. Inga Schmidt-Ross has initiated a number of fundamental projects and topics that are important for the strategic development of the university. In the area of quality man-agement, she has created the prerequisites for admission to the HSBA system accreditation in December 2018 by substantially revising, improving and systematically structuring the quality management system. With the system accreditation, the HSBA has obtained the right to independently design, implement and accredit new study programmes. Since then, the university has been able to ensure the high quality of its studies and teaching with its own quality management system. Thanks to the development and introduction of a comprehensive system for reflecting on study programmes initiated by Prof. Schmidt-Ross, the performance and potential of study programmes can be evaluated better and developed further. Initial successes have already been achieved here through the analysis of the BSc Maritime Management and MBA Corporate Governance degree programmes. Prof. Dr. Inga Schmidt-Ross has also continued to focus on and expand the area of executive education, thus creating a sector that complements the HSBA's range of training cours-es. Professor Schmidt-Ross will continue to teach and conduct research at HSBA as Professor of Business Administration with a focus on marketing and sales.
