Example for a 2 Day Seminar for Newcomers

The first day of the seminar discusses the fundamentals of the insurance sector. An overview of legal forms, market characteristics, supplier structures and insurance savings is provided. Furthermore, the actuarial risk and its handling as well as the risk compensation in the collective and in the time are explained. In addition, approaches to product and price design as well as the foundations of reinsurance and sales policy are presented.

The second day focuses on the key management issues in the insurance industry. The fundamentals, functions and effects of Solvency II are outlined. Subsequently, approaches and levers for value-oriented management in the insurance company are explained. At the end of the second day, the fundamentals of accounting and the analysis possibilities of insurance companies are discussed on the basis of an annual financial statement and the calculation of the key indicators in the insurance industry is explained by means of examples.

Of course, individual wishes and focus points can be taken into consideration when selecting topics. The dates for the in-house seminar are flexible.

At the end of the seminar, the participants receive a certificate of participation from HSBA Hamburg School of Business Administration.

The price per seminar day is 2,500€ plus VAT. The price includes the printed seminar papers as well as the travel expenses of the speakers.

Mr. Prof. Dr. Florian Elert holds the professorship for insurance management at HSBA Hamburg School of Business Administration and teaches insurance in various Bachelor, Master and MBA courses. He has also conducted insurance seminars for practitioners for many years, and has been lecturing on current challenges in the insurance industry at industry events.
