Update: FIFU 2021 Now Turned Into an Online Conference

The 11th conference of German-speaking research centres and institutes for family business (FIFU) will be held for the first time as an online conference in 2021. The conference will be organised by the Institute for Mittelstand and Family Firms (IMF) at the HSBA.

Every year, family business researchers and family entrepreneurs meet at the FIFU conference to present current research projects in a family atmosphere and to exchange views on practical issues relating to family businesses. To mark the occasion, the IMF, as organising institute, has now decided to hold the 11th FIFU Conference as an online conference. As scheduled, the conference will take place on 25 and 26 February. Due to the format, the conference is free of charge this year.

"We want to provide those, who are working on ongoing research projects, an opportunity to present their work status and discuss it in expert circles," explains Professor Peter Klein, Professor of Family Business at HSBA and expert at IMF Hamburg. "Despite the new format, we would like to create a constructive working atmosphere to facilitate well-founded, intensive discussions. After all, scientific discourse is of particular relevance right now".

All researchers are cordially invited to submit current research projects dealing with family businesses and their entrepreneurial families as abstract by 10 January 2021. The abstract should not exceed 1,000 words and should contain the central question, the theoretical basis, the methodological approach, the relevance of the topic for family entrepreneurs and - if available - first interim results.
