Prof. Dr. Tim Goydke Starts as President at HSBA

"HSBA is already one of the leading dual universities in Germany - our goal is now to optimally position HSBA for future global challenges,” says Professor Goydke. As the former academic director of the Graduate & Professional School at Bremen University of Applied Sciences (HSB), Goydke wants to place a strategic focus on the expansion of international university cooperations, the further development of the degree programme portfolio and the further integration of the topics of sustainability and digitalisation as president of HSBA. "As a partner of Hamburg's economy, it is our task to strengthen Hamburg as a business location through excellent academic education at an international level and to attract and train skilled workers from all over the world."
Tim Goydke, who holds a doctorate in economics, was Professor of Japanese Economy and Society at the HSB Hochschule Bremen for 18 years. There he was appointed academic director of the International Graduate Center (IGC) in 2010, which became a leading institution for international Master's and MBA programmes under his leadership. In 2018, he took over the academic leadership of the university's newly founded higher-level Graduate & Professional School, which he rebuilt and developed into a regionally and internationally respected institution. Prof. Dr. Alkis Otto and Prof. Dr. Max Johns had taken over the presidency from Prof. Dr. Insa Sjurts on a deputy basis from January to September 2023. Their dedication and extraordinary commitment have provided continuity, growth and innovation in equal measure during this important time of transition and have helped to set an important course for the future of the university.
On 8 November 2023, Prof. Dr. Tim Goydke will be inaugurated at a ceremony. With around 200 invited guests from science, business and politics, the inauguration ceremony will take place on the HSBA campus in the heart of Hamburg.
