On 1 October 2024, four new doctoral students began their doctoral studies at HSBA's Ingeborg Gross Graduate Center. They bring with them a wealth of experience in the fields of finance, corporate resilience and marketing. We are very much looking forward to the scientific exchange and fresh perspectives. New Doctoral Students Start at the Ingeborg Gross Graduate Center


Julius Jensen is doing his doctorate at the Department of Finance & Accounting. He is researching the topic of tax transparency and the effects of this on the capital market. At HSBA, he is supervised by Prof. Dr. André Küster-Simic, and at Andrássy University in Budapest by Prof. Dr. Stefan Okruch.
In addition to his doctorate, Julius Jensen works in the multidisciplinary law firm KSB INTAX in the area of tax structuring, focusing on tax-optimised implementation of restructuring and corporate succession as well as conducting tax disputes.
Alina Steiger has already dealt intensively with the twin transition in the Master's programme in Digital Transformation & Sustainability at HSBA. As part of her doctoral project, she is investigating opportunities and challenges for the private and public sectors. Ms Steiger is doing her doctorate at the Department of Marketing Transformation and is supervised by Prof. Dr. Susanne Hensel at HSBA and by Prof. Dr. Jörg Henseler at the University of Twente.
Felix Zufall is doing his doctorate at the Department of Strategy & Leadership, where he is supervised by Prof. Dr. Sarah Jastram. His doctoral research focuses on corporate resilience and crisis management. He is particularly interested in developing practical strategies that help companies remain stable in uncertain and dynamic environments.
Mr Zufall has a bachelor's degree in international business and also in business law. After completing a master's in logistics and supply chain management, he is currently expanding his expertise by taking an additional master's in economics with a focus on risk management.
Lejla Papovichas over 14 years of experience in the banking sector, mainly in the area of banking supervisory law. In her doctoral thesis, she deals with cryptocurrencies and the key regulatory figures of European banks, taking into account the challenges of presenting bitcoins in accordance with Pillar 1 and Pillar 3. She is currently in a leading position responsible for the banking supervisory affairs of a Hamburg-based private bank. Lejla Papovic is supervised at HSBA by Prof. Dr. Peter Scholz.
The cooperative, part-time doctoral programme offered by HSBA together with its partner universities enables systematic supervision and support for doctoral students. Due to HSBA's application-oriented focus, projects are mainly realised in cooperation with the business world.
All activities related to the doctoral programme are bundled in the new Ingeborg Gross Graduate Center. Doctoral students receive extensive support for research trips and conference participation to ensure continuous research output at the highest academic level.
