Inauguration of the President Prof. Dr. Tim Goydke

Prof. Dr. Tim Goydke has been the new President of HSBA since October 1, 2023. Yesterday, he was officially inaugurated and welcomed into his new office at a festive event. Tim Goydke took over the office from interim presidents Prof. Dr. Max Johns and Prof. Dr. Alkis Otto, who will continue to support him as vice presidents.

In his inaugural speech in front of numerous guests from academia, business and politics, Professor Goydke gave an initial outlook on how he would like to further expand HSBA's potential as a university for the digital future. He places a strategic focus on internationalization and the further integration of sustainability and digitalization in teaching, research and administration: "HSBA is already one of the leading dual universities in Germany - our goal is now to optimally position it for future global challenges. As a partner of Hamburg's economy, it is our task to strengthen Hamburg as a business location by providing excellent academic education at an international level and to attract and train specialists from all over the world."

"I am delighted that HSBA has gained an experienced scientist and university manager in Professor Dr. Goydke as its new president. HSBA is becoming increasingly popular with young students thanks to its dual study model. It offers excellent career opportunities and makes an important contribution to securing the supply of skilled workers in the economy. I congratulate Mr. Goydke on his new position and wish him every success in his new tasks," said Dr. Eva Gümbel, State Councillor for Science, Research and Equality, in her welcoming address.

After the welcoming speeches by State Councillor Dr. Eva Gümbel and Astrid Nissen-Schmidt, Chairwoman of the HSBA Board of Governors and Vice-President of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce, Alexander Birken, CEO of the Otto Group and member of the HSBA Board of Governors and Board of Trustees, paid tribute to the development of the university in a speech: "For almost 20 years, HSBA, as the dual business school, has been educating young people with vision, who are essential for us as Hamburg companies and for the business location. In Professor Goydke, it has gained a president who pursues clear strategic goals and will continue to develop HSBA in an outstanding manner."

Tim Goydke holds a doctorate in economics and was Professor of Japanese Economy and Society at HSB University of Applied Sciences Bremen for 18 years. In 2010, he was appointed Academic Director of the International Graduate Center (IGC), which became a leading institution for international Master's and MBA programs under his leadership. In 2018, he took over the academic management of the university's newly founded Graduate & Professional School, which he rebuilt and developed into a regionally and internationally recognized institution. Professor Goydke researches and publishes on the topics of SMEs and CSR, particularly in relation to Asia, is involved in a wide range of voluntary work and is an active member of national and international committees such as the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the European Foundation of Management Development (EFMD) and as a reviewer for the Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA).
