The graduation ceremony is a significant event in the life of every student and is one of the most important celebrations at HSBA. Thus, this year's graduation ceremony was once again held in the renowned Börsensaal (Stock Exchange Hall) of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce, which, with its imposing architecture and historical significance, provided a fitting setting and made the moment unforgettable. A total of 205 Bachelor's and almost 50 Master's students, dressed in gowns, sashes and berets, received their well-deserved graduation certificates and then toasted to their future with family and friends.
Graduation Ceremony 2023 - HSBA Celebrates its Graduates

"We are very pleased to be able to say goodbye to a very special cohort of 205 Bachelor's and 50 Master's students today," said interim presidents Prof. Dr Alkis Otto and Prof. Dr Max Johns. "The study period of this cohort was initially still marked by the pandemic with its special personal challenges and new forms of learning and teaching. But with cohesion and a great deal of flexibility, our students have managed to graduate and now face an exciting future. We wish them all the very best."
One of the highlights of the evening, in addition to the honouring of student commitment and the awarding of our year's best students, was the symbolic handing over of the baton from the previous Bachelor student representatives to the new generation. Laurenz Wilhelm and Malte Garske handed over their roles to Isabell Gizewski and Phil Groher, who will now work for the interests of the entire Bachelor student body for one year.
We thank all speakers for their valuable contribution to this unique evening. A special thank you goes to Preeti Bendele, Dean of the Hapag-Lloyd Academy, who was on stage representing our cooperation companies. We would like to thank the Association of Friends and Supporters of the HSBA, represented by Matthias Schmelzer, Chairman of the Board of the Association of Friends and Supporters of the HSBA e.V., for the nice idea of providing us with a photo box this year for memorable snapshots. And last but not least, a big thank you goes to our new HSBA band who, for the first time since the Corona Pandemic, gave the evening not only a festive but also a very personal touch.
For the new semester 2023, 325 Bachelor's students and almost 50 Master's students will start at HSBA, more than ever before. Around 24% more students than in the previous year have opted for a dual Bachelor's programme at HSBA. HSBA owes this success to the close cooperation with its partner companies and a steadily increasing interest in first-class academic and practical education.
