Dr. Christoph Jermann Joins HSBA's Management Team

On 1 January, Dr. Christoph Jermann, who holds a doctorate in philosophy and is an experienced manager, started as interim managing director at HSBA. With his many years of experience as Managing Director of various higher education institutions, he will complement and support the Executive Board of the Hamburg School of Business Administration until the office of President and Chair of the Executive Board are filled.
"I have known and appreciated HSBA as a Hamburg institution since my time as Managing Director of the NIT at TU Hamburg," says Dr Christoph Jermann. "The cooperative model, the intensive exchange with professors, the small study groups and the close networking with Hamburg's business community have made the university a successful model for many years. I am very much looking forward to being able to accompany HSBA and its committed team on their way and hopefully to be able to take this very special university even further forward."
The management team has also been complemented and strengthened by the appointment of Alexander Freier as Deputy Managing Director. Alexander Freier brings with him his many years of expertise as Head of Marketing & Sales and has already been involved in the university's management as an authorised signatory for some time.
Dr. Christoph Jermann studied philosophy in Zurich and Tübingen and completed his doctorate in 1983 on the structure and problems of Platonic idealism. After various national and international post-doctoral activities, he worked for ten years for various management consultancies in Frankfurt and Hamburg. From 2001 to August 2013, he worked in a management position at the Northern Institute of Technology Management (NIT) at the TU Hamburg-Harburg, ten years of which as Managing Director. He was Managing Director of the Asklepios Medical School (AMS) in Hamburg until 2022.
