Prof. Dr. Sönke Hartmann and Gregor Sparfeld receive award for outstanding teaching

Congratulations! As part of Dies Academicus, Prof. Dr. Sönke Hartmann and Gregor Sparfeld were presented with the HSBA Teaching Award for excellence in teaching. The teaching award is presented each year to lecturers who receive particularly good evaluations from our students.

Sönke Hartmann has been Professor of Operations Research and Logistics in the Department of Technology & Markets at HSBA since 2007. Prior to that, he worked for several years as a management consultant in logistics, focusing on the optimisation and simulation of container terminals. He currently teaches the modules Operations Research, Statistics, Mathematics, Mathematical Foundations of Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence & Data Science and Data Analysis.

Gregor Sparfeld has been a lecturer at HSBA since 2008. He teaches mathematics, statistics, cost and performance accounting, operations research, operations management, finance, bookkeeping and accounting, and microeconomics.

Dies Academicus offers HSBA lecturers and staff a space for exchange and reflection on teaching and its future. This year, the focus was on how artificial intelligence is rapidly changing the way we learn, teach and work. Specifically, the discussion centred on the skills our graduates need and how teaching should be designed accordingly.

Prof. Dr Tim Brüggemann, Rector of AKAD University and a proven expert in educational technologies and artificial intelligence in higher education, gave an inspiring keynote speech. This was followed by various practice-oriented workshops and a lively exchange on teaching and research.
