Ceremonial farewell: Professors Peter Klein and Bertram Konert retire

Yesterday, our professors Dr. Peter Klein and Dr. Bertram Konert were given a ceremonial farewell after many years of teaching at HSBA. Both have decisively shaped teaching and studies at HSBA and successfully accompanied generations of students on their way into the future.

Prof. Dr. Peter Klein taught at HSBA since 2013 and was committed to the interdisciplinary scientific exchange on family businesses with a lot of energy and expertise. Prof. Dr. Bertram Konert was responsible for the content of the BSc Media Management & Communication as program director for 18 years.

"Professor Peter Klein and Professor Bertram Konert have both contributed to keeping the quality of academic teaching at our university high and to raising HSBA's profile as the dual business school," said Prof. Dr. Tim Goydke, President of HSBA. "They have guided generations of students on their journey, turning them into highly qualified, critical-thinking individuals. We wish them all the best for their new stage in life!"

Professor Bertram Konert worked for almost 18 years as a professor of general business administration with a focus on IT and media management at the HSBA. Since 2006, he has been responsible for the content and organization of the Media Management & Communication bachelor's degree programme and has successfully guided numerous cohorts through to graduation. His research interests included strategic and operational developments in digital broadcasting as well as convergence processes of traditional media and online media.

Professor Peter Klein has taught at HSBA since 2013 as a professor of general business administration with a focus on family businesses. Together with Professor Stefan Prigge, he headed the Institute for Small and Medium-Sized Businesses and Family Research (IMF), an independent institute under the academic direction of HSBA, for many years. Within this framework, he was intensively involved in researching specific challenges of medium-sized and family businesses and presented the findings from his research and institute work at conferences and conventions. As a co-founder of the Conference of German-Speaking Research Centers and Institutes for Family Business, FIFU, he contributed important groundwork for interdisciplinary scientific discourse in this field. In addition to his teaching activities, Professor Klein supervised doctoral students in the university's cooperative doctoral programme.
