Airbus Sponsors Endowed Professorship for Logistics Management at HSBA

‘The endowed professorship is a decisive step in further expanding our expertise in the field of logistics,‘ says Prof Dr Tim Goydke, President of HSBA Hamburg School of Business Administration. ‘As the leading aerospace company in Europe, Airbus offers our students in Hamburg excellent career opportunities. We are very pleased that we can now intensify our cooperation even further.’
Prof Dr Michael Höbig adds: ‘Aircraft construction is a mixture of project and series business and resembles a gigantic jigsaw puzzle. The logistical challenge is therefore extreme, and the cooperation between Airbus and HSBA is intended to address precisely this area of tension and offer solutions based on science.’
The establishment of the endowed professorship aims to add an important interdisciplinary component to the research and development potential at the logistics location of Hamburg. Overall, the range of courses offered is to be significantly expanded and the number of dual study places is to be increased. The new professorship will focus on the topics of warehouse planning, procurement and materials management, and logistics automation.
Nawina Walker, Site Manager Airbus Hamburg and member of the HSBA Board of Trustees: ‘Together with HSBA, we have already trained many highly motivated young professionals and are very impressed by the quality of teaching. With the endowed professorship, we can specifically promote talent, launch important application-oriented research and development projects and expand our network in the field of science and research. It is a really exciting project that we are very much looking forward to!"
