Sönke Hartmann has been Professor of Operations Research and Logistics at HSBA since 2007. Previously, he has been a consultant in logistics for several years. His projects focused on the optimisation and simulation of container terminals. He studied computer science at the university of Kiel where he also completed his doctorate in operations research.
Professor Hartmann's main research areas include optimisation algorithms and their applications in business adminstration and logistics as well as simulation. He has published articles in various international scientific journals including the European Journal of Operational Research, OR Spectrum and Naval Research Logistics. He is also a reviewer for more than 20 scientific journals. In the research rankings of the Handelsblatt, he ranks among the 10% strongest research orientated business administration professors in German speaking countries.
